The Dangers in My Heart Manga and Anime

Norio Sakurai’s The Dangers in My Heart manga launched in Weekly Shonen Champion magazine in March 2018. The series later migrated to Champion Cross before finding its final home at Manga Cross. Its story revolves around an unpopular high school student named Kyotaro Ichikawa whose distorted view of reality leads him to believe that he is the tortured lead character of a psychological thriller. Bearing ill will towards his classmates, he often devises ways to torment them. Despite this, he also harbors a secret crush on Anna Yamada, one of the most popular girls in his school. As time goes on, Kyotaro grows closer to Anna, while also learning that the class darling has a weird streak of her own.

Shin-Ei Animation’s (Crayon Shin-Chan, Doraemon) adaptation of Sakurai’s popular manga premiered in Apr. 2023. Hiroaki Akagi (Teasing Master Takagi-san) directed the series, while Jukki Hanada (Bloom Into You, Love, Chunibyo and Other Delusions!) wrote the script. Kensuke Ushio (A Silent Voice, Chainsaw Man) composed the series’ music. Hina Yomiya starred alongside Shun Horie as Anna Yamada. Prior to The Dangers In My Heart, Horie voiced a number of major characters from several other popular anime series.
