Some of these deaths left manga fans completely flabbergasted while some were satisfied seeing the bad guys brought down to justice. Delve deeper to know more about the major character deaths in the Jujutsu Kaisen manga.

   Hanami

Cursed Spirit Hanami reveals himself in Jujutsu Kaisen

In the Shibuya Incident Arc, Hanami has the misfortune to cross paths with Gojo again after their battle earlier on in the series. One can only imagine how the outcome would be. No matter how strong an enemy, they are nothing compared to the strongest sorcerer alive. Gojo is up against both Hanami and Jogo, but Jogo walks away from the fight.

Hanami tries to attack Gojo with his spell, but Gojo quickly grabs him and rips his branches off. During their battle, Choso manages to distract Satoru, allowing Jogo and Hanami to attack the other sorcerers. However, the injured Hanami immediately gets crushed by Gojo’s Infinity against the wall and dies instantly.

   Dagon

Dagon's Evolved Form In Jujutsu Kaisen.

Dagon is another powerful Special-Grade cursed spirit from Mahito’s faction. He was briefly shown in the anime, though it is clear he hasn’t developed his full form yet. In the Shibuya Incident Arc, Megumi and Dagon fight each other until unexpectedly, Toji Fushiguro enters the Domain. He starts eliminating all of Dagon’s curses and defeats him with just pure physical power.

The scene is quite intense, especially because of Dagon’s lack of regard for Toji who has no curse energy. Knowing the strength of the opponent he looked down, Dagon tries to escape only to find out Nabito blocking his way. Toji takes this chance to stab him continuously until he is exorcised.

   Toji Fushiguro

Jujutsu kaisen

Once the fight with Dagon was over, Toji drags Megumi to another location to fight him. As the estranged father and son get into an intense battle, Megumi tries to turn things around by creating a cover with his Escape Bunnies Technique. However, Toji easily wriggles out of it.

He then chases Megumi down an alley and attacks him, but misses him because he falls into the trap his son had created for him. At that moment, Toji comes to his senses and asks Megumi for his last name, to which the latter replies “Fushiguro”. Toji becomes genuinely happy to know that Megumi didn’t take the name Zenin. Sadly, he stabs himself in the head, killing his vessel in order to save his son from his mindless rampage.

   Jogo

Jogo from Jujutsu Kaisen.

Jogo was arrogant enough to believe that everything would go his way. He forcefully feeds ten of Sukuna’s fingers to Yuji, and, as one would imagine, Sukuna ends up taking complete control of Yuji’s body. Sukuna challenges Jogo to hit him at least once in exchange for certain favors. He attacks Jogo, who was completely overpowered even after using his special technique.

Jogo doesn’t use his Domain Expansion knowing that Sukuna’s Innate Domain will dominate his. As things progress, Jogo is confused by Sukuna’s fire-based attacks. The fight doesn’t draw out for too long since it was fairly easy for Sukuna to kill Jogo.

   Muta Kokichi (Mechamaru)

Kokichi Muta with bandaged body in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Muta was bound by a Heavenly Restriction and thus had a fragile and sick body without some of his limbs since he was born. His desire to live and walk like a normal person was so strong that he ends up making a Binding Vow with Mahito.

The conditions of the vow were to act as a spy for Mahito in exchange for Mahito healing Muta’s body with Idle Transfiguration. Muta agrees to cooperate with Mahito and pass the information only if the latter would not harm anyone from Kyoto Jujutsu High. After some time, Mahito feels that Muta was of no use to him, so he transforms him and gives him a normal body. However, they both engage in a battle that resulted in Muta’s demise.

   Kento Nanami

Kento Nanami from Jujutsu Kaisen.

There’s no doubt that Nanami is one of Jujutsu Kaisen’s most beloved characters, and rose to this level of popularity very quickly after being introduced. That is why his death seriously deals a hard blow to the manga fans. In the Shibuya Incident arc, Nanami encounters numerous mutated humans. He is already been severely injured by that time, yet he still worries about Megumi, Maki and Naobito, and what happened to them.

Nanami begins to slaughter the mutated humans one after another until he comes face to face with Mahito. While Mahito offers to chat with Nanami, the latter sees a vision of Yu — his long-deceased friend — who points towards Yuji. Nanami saying only, “You’ve got it from here,” before Mahito destroys his upper body half in an instant.

   Masamichi Yaga

jujutsu-kaisen-masamichi-yaga

Masamichi Yaga, the principal of Jujutsu Tech High School gets sentenced to death for inciting violence between Satoru Gojo and Suguru Geto and was found guilty of causing the Shibuya incident. Principal Gakunganji of the Kyoto school corners Principal Yaga alone in a street along with other higher-ups. The two get into a fight with Gakuganji clearly having the upper hand.

Gakuganji tries to get the answer to creating the advanced Cursed Corpses like Panda. Seeing Yaga refusing to answer, Gakuganji carries out the execution and kills him. The scene is truly heart-wrenching, seeing how Panda arrives there and while Gakuganji tries to fight him, Panda ignores him and rushes to Masamichi’s side, carrying his bruised body.

   Mai Zenin

Jujutsu Kaisen's Mai Zenin frowning.

Mai and Maki have always been disregarded by the Zenin clan for having little to no power because of their ‘weaknesses’. Mai is gravely injured by her father when Maki comes to her rescue. Mai watches her twin sister and father clash with one another. After Maki’s defeat, the sisters are dragged by Ogi into a pit filled with curses.

The twins become unconscious and metaphorically have a conversation on a beach where Mai says her wounds are too severe for her to survive. Mai begins to walk towards the ocean, but before leaving, decides to take Maki’s dark energy with her and gives her a parting gift — a reed branch. When Maki wakes up and sees her sister dead, she finds a new weapon in her hand instead of a reed branch. Maki then massacres the Zenin clan and mourns her sister’s death.
